Destruction of the Chemical Weapons Stockpile

The US Chemical Stockpile is about 90% destroyed.  There are still two facilities that are operational in Colorado and Kentucky.  The technologies used and the history of the effort to destroy the chemical weapons at  US facilities and the problems encounters will be discussed.

About the Speakers:

PETER B. LEDERMAN

Peter Lederman has over 50 years of experience in industry, government and academia as an engineer, manager, professor and executive.  Pete earned his Bachelor’s Masters and Doctorate degrees at the University of Michigan.

Pete served on National Research Academy Committees overseeing and advising the Chemical Weapons Destruction Program for over 10 years.  He served as Chair of the National Research Council Committee Reviewing and Evaluating the Chemical Stockpile Disposal Program for 5 years.

.  He has chaired numerous committees and organizations including the New Jersey Section, the Environmental Division, Government Relations Committee as well as the Professional Development Committee. He is a Fellow of the AIChE. He has served as a Director of the Institute and currently serves as Chair of the AIChE Foundation.
